The University of Cambridge has called on its own employer body, UCEA, to 'urgently' resume negotiations with UCU so that students can graduate.

The move, described as 'hugely significant' by UCU, was communicated via a joint statement signed by Dr Anthony Freeling, acting vice-chancellor of the University of Cambridge and Michael Abberton, president of UCU's Cambridge branch.

Also, I have voted ‘note’ on both @ucu #ucurisng consultation questions. It’s time to push the negotiations with a clear statement that the re-ballot mandate means that we can re-start Action at any point. The #UCEA request for a moratorium on industrial action is clearly an outlandish one that flies in the face of collective action.

For a #postdoc, accepting the current #UCEA pay offer still amounts to a real-world pay-cut of over £6,000 since 2011!
How is that fair?
