Hard to believe it’s been 20 years since #UCMerced broke ground. Very cool to see plans for the new Medical Education building and to generally be surrounded by so much positivity.

#Introduction since I have moved over to #historians.social: I am a #historian of #EarlyModern #Britain and #AtlanticWorld, interested in gender and the persistence of patriarchy. I teach at #UCMerced and live with 2 #cats; I have an elderly mother nearby. Native New Yorker in California.

It was really cool to see a packed house for our very first #philosophy and #literature event yesterday afternoon (had to add chairs!), with Robert Pippin providing an excellent lecture on our search for meaning in the arts, with a focus on film. Nigel Hatton, who organized the event, will be part of the new philosophy department at #UCMerced if that gets approved, and will be organizing more events on #LiteratureAndPhilosophy going forward.
