@johnmacintosh This reminds me of the #TI990/4 system we had in school. I learned #Pascal on it. We had a 10 MB hard drive and another 10 MB removable hard drive, both being 16” drives. There were 6 terminals as shown below.

The whole system had 384 KB RAM, which results in 64 KB RAM assigned to each terminal for running a program.

The #TexasInstruments implementation of #Pascal was highly unreliable, so we had to use #UCSD Pascal, IIRC.

Engineers at UCSD have developed a wearable ultrasound device that can assess both the structure and function of the human heart. My #UCSD #CSE SE grad students are really coming thru (mostly) on the GPT-3 question I gave them and their debug of its answer of its own question. A few did not which is scary and shows you how dangerous this thing can be, but the sharp students absolutely killed it. I esp loved the person who went into the whole readability / writability problem of Programming & PLs and a shift to mostly reading and what that would mean to devs. Being pleasantly surprised as a Prof is just wonderful!

The bargaining process at University of California is progressing faster now that so many workers are on strike. However, the University seems committed to recycling the exact same proposals and somehow handwaving that they’re actually better than before? Is merely packing the same proposal in different language going to deceive PhD students?

We had a metal band at our strike starting Tuesday and this was so amazing!
