finally got around to watching UGETSU. it jumps so seamlessly between reality and fantasy, and effortlessly executes some really technical filmmaking, that it kind of snuck up on me and not all of it registered until the movie was over. there’s a good reason this film is so revered—everything from the camera work to the score to its progressive-for-the-time messages about society’s treatment of women. check it out if you can! #film #cinema #ugetsu #mizoguchi
