In vielen Städten ist es aufgrund der urbanen Umgebung wesentlich wärmer als in ländlichen Gebieten. Dieses Phänomen nennt man den Urban Heat Island Effekt.

A shame it's not open access because most of us will need to take results on faith alone.

Anyway, this paper looks at natural gas powered vehicles as part of an urban system in an interesting way. In a dense urban environment reduced Carnot efficiency of CNG combutsion means these ICVs increase building air conditioning power consumption more than their gas and diesel counterparts. Overall this results in increased GHG emissions.
