Design tokens are the basic styles which make up a design system. Each heading style could be defined as a design token, or each colour swatch, or each spacing value, and so on.

They can be synced directly from Figma into a codebase and are a good way of maintaining consistency between multiple applications.

This is so true. When I see the poor level of accessible, performant and clear HTML code written in a lot of projects... Let's not talk about CSS, it's worst oftentime.
