The #UKBA prohibits an American businessman from a “financial advantage” to an American official (like, oh, I don’t know, #ClarenceThomas) if the businessman has: 1. Acts in part in the UK (like, oh I don’t know, a #superyacht in UK waters); or 2. A close connection to the UK (like a vacation home). Anyone know anybody in the UK Government by any chance?

Thankfully there was no problem.
The e-passport gates worked a treat, and immigration took about 30 seconds (had to try 3 times to get the passpor to scan).
The baggage handlers had already aborted their strike.

I'm looking with much trepidation at the UKBA and baggage handler strikes at Heathrow on the day I'm due to fly back to London.
I fear sitting on the tarmac for 3 hours, before getting into heathrow and waiting 5 hours for immigration, then another 6 hours to collect my bag.
I have a changeable ticket, so might be able to change to a different flight, though prices will have gone up since I bought mine.
Wah.
