The old one relied on a zipper that failed miserably after 3.5 years (of which 1.5 was COVID). Cannot repair it

The old one relies on velcro and I am pretty confident can be repaired.

Lots of #MetPlods around parliament Square this evening and traffic lights disabled. Looks like they were closing the roads but cycle lanes still opened (if you stay on the embankment) #UKCycleTweeps #BikeTooter

I never thought the longer bike commute (16km each way) would be that exhilarating. It's ain't much longer than the train for me. The exercise is real great and otherwise I don't have the time for it.

First full bike commute from Richmond to the city. 17ish km each way.
That was more enjoyable than I thought it would and pretty much the same time it takes by public transport (a bit longer than a perfectly executed #BromptonOnATrain commute).

Just need to make it an habit for 2 days a week and that will be perfect

Managed 3000km and a surprising 24,000m of ascent this year.
Not bad considering I was only riding one day a week on average.
Just don't ask about the running.

I've just merged / migrated into one account (from @pedalestrian to this one). So here's a re-introduction.

I'm a husband, dad (of two kids), active travel type (#UKCycleTweeps) ... also partial to millionaires shortbread, snowboarding and guitars.

Interesting quirk of cycling in sub zero temperature recently... The seat post has dropped about an inch. I can only assume this is due to differential contraction sure to the cold (steel frame, aluminium seatpost, who knows what clamp). I was wondering why it was all seeming harder than normal.
Not keen on retightening it until it warms up though, or I find my torque driver.

I've not been for a ride just for the hell of it for quite a while.
However, I had the day off, and the weather was about as good as it was going to be (if you ignore the sub-zero temperatures).
So I went for a little jaunt over the Pennines to Holmfirth via Marsden and Meltham.
A total of about 50km and 1000m ascent.
Brunch and coffee in Holmfirth.
3 massive hills to get there, and one massive hill to get back. The headwind on the way back was not fun though...
