Why are we incentivizing the buying of cheaper second homes or buy to let over expensive ones. The stamp duty rates increase with the property price? The properties most of us live in are cheaper and we are incentivizing landlords to buy them.

For second property purchases I think setting the stamp duty rate should not incentivize buying cheaper properties. Perhaps a flat rate set to what the level is for expensive properties. Current approach just feels wrong.

The property market is really slow around NW Kent at the moment. I've dropped from photographing an average of 6 to 10 homes a week to 3 to 4 a week. And we've not hit the Christmas slowdown yet afaik.
