No #parkrun for me this week as I was supporting the start of a new #PolesApart #NordicWalking class being run at #BeddingtonPark. 'Twas nice to have a 9:45 start as well, so a bit more of a #Saturday lie in #today. Plan is to alternate Saturdays between parkrun and Nordic Walking.

@dash Hey, I just got round to checking, and TfL's #ulez scrappage scheme not only do they allow people to spend the scrappage grant money on anything, they even have a higher-value option that includes an Annual Bus and Tram pass! So, they give a direct incentive to not replace your car with another car, which I think meets both your criteria:

@agvbergin Tend to agree with this. I think it's important to see #ULEZ as 1) a first step and 2) as part of a package of reforms. E.g., opponents of #LTNs like to claim (with or without evidence!) that more cars taking more circuitous routes will lead to higher emissions, and having a ULEZ somewhat addresses that argument

I do lean towards better funding for scrappage schemes, but also... we've known cars are dangerous and polluting for decades. I kind of think if you're still driving one around just because it's personally convenient to you, it's kind of on you at this point
