You are forgiven if you thought I was posting the same beers as yesterday. The truth is: I ordered a case of "Franconian Seasonal Specialties", so that's why there are quite a few in my stash that are the same beer style.

Another Christmas Ale, this time by #Penning and a Rauchbier ("Smoked Beer") by #UlrichMartin (both 🇩🇪 obviously). Smoked beers are very typical for Franconia, #Schlenkerla being one of the most famous examples.

I remain wary of the 🇩🇪 fetishization of the "#Reinheitsgebot" because I do think that it limits creativity and innovation in brewing.

Having said that, I have made my peace with 🇩🇪 beers over time and will be the first to admit that a lot of very decent beers - not only "crafty" ones - are produced within the limits the RG sets.

Take this Kirchweihbier (a Festbier style German Lager) by #Felsenbraeu and this Weizenbock by #UlrichMartin for example. Very decent.
