I ran across this Roland MT-32 version of the #UltimaIV soundtrack by Cloudschatze and he has given permission to create an #xu4 module.

The Atari ST rendition is about half the tempo of other platforms, so it makes for a more laid-back listening experience.

This wraps up work on the spoken dialogue that began just over a year ago.

The U4-Recreated module
contains the voice streams and includes most of the U4 Upgrade graphics. The only new artwork is the abacus image by Joshua Steele. I was playing with the font to make it similar to the C64 version, but that has been put aside for now.

The latest #xu4 development snapshot is a release candidate for 1.3. This will be the ChangeLog entry:

- Support NPC voice streams. These are part of a new U4-Recreated module.
- Game can now be paused.
- Support Raspberry Pi 4 Model B.
- Some tweaks and fixes.

Work on adding voices to #xu4 characters continues and now most of the vendors have audio.

So far these have all been #TTS generated, but I started using a few recordings of human voices. #UltimaIV has a number of NPCs named after historical persons, but the spelling is tweaked which can make it difficult to know the pronunciation.

If anyone wants to play a character with their own voice please get in touch.

(EN) After I had to split my post about Ultima IV into four parts, I created an account on Friendica to post and share a long version. If I feel like it, I'll get nostalgic with other games. Just have to find the best way to share on Mastodon and if I stay there. I'm still experimenting 😀 Tips are welcome, form and style are still coming.

(DE) Nachdem ich meinen Beitrag zu Ultima IV in vier Teile aufteilen musste habe ich Mal versuchsweise auf Friendica einen Account angelegt um dort eine lange Version zu posten und zu teilen. Wenn mir danach ist, werde ich dann Mal mit anderen Spielen nostalgisch. Muss nur sehen wie ich sonst am besten hier teile und ob ich dort bleibe. Ich experimentiere noch. 😀 Tipps sind wilkommen, Form und Stil kommen noch.
