I’m afraid #Qevin McCarthy’s debt ceiling “negotiating” plan is so delusional that it’s a toxic economic time bomb. The #UltraMAGA holdouts + plus the rest of the self-serving #GOP can’t come together. Their debt ceiling debacle will implode. #Qevin’s only way forward will be with House Democrats. @bleakfuture I first read #HandmaidsTale in my early late teens or 20s. All of her books. She shaped my politics, that’s for sure.

My father once told me my politics would change as I got older. Too bad he didn’t live long enough to see how wrong he was. If anything, I become more progressive and left leaning even in my 60’s. Especially since tfg was elected.

We Dems should chill on the schadenfreude. The House #Speaker debacle is a very, very bad sign for the country.

What it tells us is that the people who are refusing to vote for #McCarthy are planning some deep, dark mischief. They want to maintain a capacity for monkeywrenching the government that's so awful and extreme, they don't trust even someone as spineless and compromised as McCarthy to play along.

Not even with #Trumps endorsement!

That points directly at the next budgetary / debt ceiling fight at the end of 2023. They want to use their power to dig in their heels, shut down the government, wreck our credit rating, and burn the country to the ground.

They don't want McCarthy, because they want to be sure that no vestige of institutionalism survives in Congress.

It means they have tipped their hand that they intend to use every procedural lever to commit absolute *legislative terrorism* in the 118th Congress. You can take that to the bank.

Nothing good will come of this.
