I just used their docs to deploy my own custom #analytics on #Vercel and it is great! Now I wish I could import the historical data to my new location. Gotta build that up again.
All this to say, it's more to go into my post I've been thinking about writing: The Good Side of Analytics.

Updated my site to move away from #GoogleAnalytics to Umami! GA has been great, but time for a change and just need something simple. It is encouraging seeing the analytics of you content, but I don't need to sell you anything either. Google was making something simple, complicated and profiting from it as well.

There's no way to get your data out of their paid saas product, so you're completely locked in. You don't own your data. And new features now come with premiums. And as long term stats are valuable, that's a perfect recipe for future price hikes with no choice but to pay up.
Self hosted works nicely but it now sounds like it will always lack features.
Maybe time to take another look at #umami

The scent of the leaves is really light, if compared to senchas and Japanese teas. It almost imperceptibly smells of wild flowers and strawberries.
Taste isn't strong either, however the #umami is overwhelming.
I will have to try second and third infusions.

447 followers · 3161 posts · Server zirk.usAfter a day or so of searching for a feasible substitute for umami seasoning (as we have no Trader Joe's here in the sticks, and no "mushroom powder" either, and I'm disinclined to spend a lot on dried ones to pulverize), I realized I have a barely used jar of Marmite in my pantry.
The OG umami for non-Asian palates.
Problem solved.

This is interesting: how does it identify a session? e.g. open two private browsing tabs and it considers them the same session. I guess it goes on useragent + IP maybe?
I think I've read that sessions last 30 mins.
So far, despite harder docker set up, I'd say Plausible is beating #umami because it can filter on utm params. But apparently this is coming soon to #Umami.

And I fired an event at umami and it counted the event but again, not filterable, and no way to see the payload of the event. I'm probably missing something.
Plausible still not reporting utm params though.

Don't know what the problem with #plausible was but grateful to someone on github for support.
Both looking good. #plausible shows less info on the graph (#umami shows visitors and views at once), but seems to offer more ways to segment - utm_ parameters are apparently supported, though not actually working for me.
