As an umpire in this league, I refuse to feel bad for criticizing other umps. That said:

I'm pretty sure this ump hasn't been sure about any call he's made all game. I can't explain it other than he calls "Strike-ish" and "Ball? Maybe? What do you think?"

This is entirely subjective, but it feels to me like the MLB umpires are doing a better job of calling the edge pitches correctly so far this year. That is, pitches just outside the zone are called a ball, and pitches that catch the edge of the zone (per the tech) are called a strike, far more often this year than in the past. I'd love to see some data either confirming or disproving this. #baseball #mlb #umpires
