Added over two dozen blocklists to my #Unbound DNS server on #OPNsense firewall and my computers have stopped going into maximum fan mode every time I click on a news or weather site. After two weeks I've only had to add two Microsoft hosts and two ConstantContact servers to the exception list to have a fully pleasant experience. Absolutely no ragrets. Plus most of the kids "free" games on their phones have stopped showing add screens!

Yesterday I migrated my home server from #archlinux to #freebsd
I set static IPv4 and it’s gateway, and I tough that IPv6 with SLAAC set gateway automatically, like the IP address. Unfortunately no. I spent time to investigate and understand why I cannot communicate with others using IPV6. I searched in my #pf rules but it was not the right direction 😅
#adguard and #unbound are working like a charm.
#wireguard is set and configured but in IPV4 only. Now I will search if I can set it with IPV6 and how.
In parallel I will reinstall my #PaperMC server (#minecraft server).

Ja, bei mir aktuell ein #pizero w mit #pihole und #unbound plus einen zweiten als Ersatz mit gleicher Konfiguration.

#TIL While reading @b0rk post on the difficulty to learn #DNS: Google Public DNS answers SERVFAIL to queries without the RD bit if it does not have an answer in cache (and it serves the data in cache otherwise)

But DNS is hard to learn and other implementations do things differently 🙃

Eg. #Unbound answers REFUSED and EDE 20 (Not authoritative) even if it has the answer in cache

I wonder how Bind, Knot-resolver or Knot-resolver handles those queries :)

er is een mogelijkheid om dit soort FB meuk - maar ook Google meuk, Microsoft meuk, Amazon meuk en zo nog een paar duizend andere meuk producenten - - bij de ingang van je internet tegen te houden - dus direct aan de router - zodat het “hele” thuisnetwerk beschermd is

daarvoor gebruik ik al vele jaren Pihole (bescherming) plus Unbound (DNS)
overigens beschikbaar voor vele smaken OS

Allows to just receiving changes compared to previous version, but need to store journal containing each change at primary and secondary server. Using AXFR is similar to downloading hosts file over http. I think PiHole uses own modified dnsmasq build, which provides webui integration.

I'm currently using #BIND as my authoritative and recursive #DNS, on 2 #freebsd servers. I manage a handful of zones.
Is there a better alternative, especially for simplicity of administration of #DNSSEC ?
I see some are going with #PowerDNS + #unbound (then why not powerdns-recursor?)
What about #NSD ? #Knot ?

Tengo grandes recuerdos de la saga clásica de #NFS (curiosamente no recuerdo el título de la saga que me marcó). Seguramente fue algún #Underground pues recuerdo esas noches, esas maravillosas luces... ahora me puedo considerar un fan sufrido de NFS. Me encanta #Unbound.
