anyway, last night I had a chance to #undervolt and #overclock my #steamdeck so I did. (this deck was bought in July 2023-not sure what quarter)

I got a 30mv undervolt on all 3 of the CPU, SOC, and GPU.

I've set the TDP to 30 watts but am going to limit it with power tools to 23 unless I'm playing outside in the Canadian winter or something since my deck can handle 23

finally I got the cpu overclocked to 3.7ghz (didn't do much here), and the gpu to 2.2ghz (did a lot here). testing went well.

Running the Ryzen Master Curve Optimizer on my gaming rig to see if I can get my 5800X to run faster and cooler at the same time. Takes almost an hour and a half to run, but hopefully will see some great results! #AMD #PCGaming #undervolt

Finally, switching my everyday setup for note taking and development to #neovim and #kitty also helped a lot in perceiving snappiness even when running in TLP battery mode (CPU_clk < 1.10GHz)

#vscode is still installed though, there's nothing wrong in having more than 1 IDE, but it definitely feels way more slower, that's a fact.

Enabling an undervolt of -90mV on core, gpu, cache etc is making a really noticeable difference, on both temps and battery life.

I still haven't measured yet, but if it noticeable, it should be at least 10 to 20% (I can't remember but IIRC there's an empirical law about that)

I have a 6 years old laptop with an i5-5200u, the latest bios available (which was never patched against the plundervolt attack)

My battery is now @60% of its maximum capacity so every milliWatt counts. I tuned my TLP to the lowest settings possible so to still have acceptable performance.

Disabling #SecureBoot to enable (again) undervolt on my laptop was probably the best choice I could make lately, but also something I shouldn't say out loud too proudly
