I’ve finally found other references/threads that seem extremely close to my experience with UniFi in-wall access points and DNS.

#Ubiquiti #UniFi users: Rejoice! The company has done the right thing and improve quite drastically its UniFi Network line-up by increasing its #IPv6 support in v7.5 software. Still a long way 'til we have a fully-fledged support but we have to give credit where credit is due.
What do you do when you're on vacation and it's raining constantly and then a hurricane is heading your way too? Setup #Pihole to work with my #Unifi network and #Tailscale it. I wrote up some notes on setting it up.

I suspect a secondary problem is that the UniFi in-wall units overheat. The dropout problem has been very bad this summer. It also seems to correspond to some of the warmest days. The UAP-U6IW dropped off for more than 24 hours over the weekend and was crazy hot when I finally got around to pulling it off the wall. I need to find a better way to monitor this, as I don’t see this info in the controller.

The logs on the affected APs still indicate a DNS resolution problem for the Inform URL. So, I overrode the Inform URL with the IP address of the controller. This also did not eliminate the problem.
I found that I had fewer dropouts of my UniFi in-wall APs, but this did not eliminate the problem.
Quick recap: I'm still working on getting the #Unifi Protect G3 Instant to connect to my WiFi network by talking to it over BLE. So far, I'm able to conduct the initial handshake to get a shared key for comms, and send pseudo-HTTP requests and see the camera's responses.
Making decent progress on the #unifi camera... completed the authentication protocol and negotiated a shared key. I should be able to send it instructions to set it's wifi network now.
@RichardGolias Jo pryč jsou doby, kdy stačilo mít uprostřed domu jeden router se dvěma 2,4GHz anténami a měl wifi až na zahradě. Bohužel fyziku nelze okecat a každá zeď rapidně snižuje dosah 5GHz signálu.
It seems the upgrade to a Unifi UDR router / AP has made no difference to WiFi coverage in my daughter's room. Her phone is out of data again as it's been hopping back up 4G.
My phone works in there, her laptop works, but her iPhone doesn't.
Unifi meshing uses 5Ghz and that doesn't get through. It's only 10m straight line distance.
May have to bite the bullet and start running cables up the outside of the house. 😞
#unifi people...
I have a UDM Pro and 2 Internet connections. With load balancing.
I'm assuming that I can setup one group of ports on a switch such that they only use 1 outbound, and the others so they use both? While at the same time, allowing the same small group of switches to access all the resources on the network?
I'm assuming this is VLANs? Is that what I should be looking at?
After a recent move, fiber install and a U6-LR added now rethinking my equipment. I outgrew a 6U rack and have a 15U ordered + a #unifi dream machine pro for scalability and to power more POE cameras. The U6-LR amazes me at its coverage. Now researching for a future addition of a rack mount NAS. Recommendations needed.
I’m retiring the following and it will probably go to my son.
- 6U rack on casters
- Unifi Cloud Key G2 Plus
- Unifi UAP AC Pro access point
- (3) Unifi BeaconHD
Question for the #UnIFi crowd, specifically those who’ve used Talk and Protect.
Can the ability to view Protect cameras be turned off on the Touch phones?
Client doesn’t seem to keen on that… I don’t know why ?
I learned by pure accident today that the wall mount for my #Ubiquity #UniFi USW-Flex switch is magnetic 🧲! This was a great discovery as now I can simply let it support itself on the side of my network rack in my attic.
For anyone curious, it’s in my attic because my outdoor PoE cameras are plugged into ports 2-5 at 100Mb while port 1 uplinks to a switch inside at 1Gb. The switch is powered via its uplink and the cameras are powered via the switch.
