Soooooo a funny thing happened today

Ran some benchmarks on some new machines at work running #linux, and one of my personal favourites is #Unigine Superposition. Benchmark mode ran beautifully, 90+ FPS at the highest preset.

But then we dropped into game mode.

Suddenly the game struggled to reach 5 FPS, even on the lowest preset. Weird.

Fiddled around with graphics drivers, made sure everything was in order, but nothing looked out of the ordinary.

What if it's the input handling? Had a silly idea and unplugged the mouse and keyboard, and suddenly everything ran smooth as butter. Plugged the keyboard back in, and the frame times jumped again. Tried a different keyboard, no problems there.

So apparently my colleague's mechanical keyboard has the power to kill game engines.

Poking into the needed effort to get exported projects of #Unigine 2.16 & #Godot 4.0 seamlessly integrated into Linux desktops.

The examples are hardly more than default scenes. In the case of the Godot project, I just quickly imported some random assets from #SketchFab... otherwise the default scene would have been empty.

Unigine and Godot are much leaner than Unreal Engine. They still allow me to use their project-editors on a 4-year-old ultrabook. Unreal only works comfortably on big iron.

@mauro #pop_os is great. Running smooth and figured out almost everything that needed to be functioning. Only dualboot remained sketchy and audio is only through headphone jack. Ran a #unigine #superposition benchmark and surprisingly got a better score than after a clean win10 install. Thanks for the tip for the Os. #asusrogstrixg512lv

Yes! I finally got my Nvidia GPU to work in Linux on my laptop as opposed to the Intel GPU. I had tried a handful of times in the past and frustratingly never got it to work.

I am currently running one of the #Unigine benchmarks which previously wouldn't even launch! *happy*
