We aren't going back - no matter how they try to drag us back, so they can feel safe because they can't cope with the modern world.

For me #UUP & #DUP need to go away. Allow the more moderate and accepting voices that are within #Unionism but are frightened to speak out, need to take over.

NI isn't their playground anymore, the people aren't willing to allow them to dictate or hold us back.

Nice to see the UUP focusing on the real issues facing #NorthernIreland while the people struggle with the cost of living.

I suppose #Unionism has to try and distract us from their failure of leadership. They and They alone have caused the crisis they face now - dying support and Sinn Féin the biggest party!

This is the consequences of Jeff's own actions. He abandoned the leadership of #Unionism to the #oneseatwonder & the #unelected blogger, in the hope they would deliver the #DUP to the top spot & with it the First Minister position. If the #DUP had of topped the poll - he would have discarded them as he walked into Stormont.

I am on holiday, taking a break from Social Media but I thought I can't let this one pass... Yeah it's internal bickering, briefing against each other - that is hurting the #DUP.

It's not the piss poor leadership, lack of direction, making bad decisions and alienating everyone they need to help them & vote for them.

Massive sense of entitlement from some in #Unionism. We were always in charge and we want it back. Plus we will only share power if they are in control.

He stood at front of #Stormont after the worse election result for #Unionism at a local election - they ran to stand still.

They are no longer the biggest party of local government, their biggest numbers of cllrs has been surpassed by #sinnfein

He still has enough front to issue a list of demands to get him to agree to go back to work. The man has an ego bigger than intelligence. I don't hold out much hope for CHH carrying out his threat!

Doesn't matter how many parties there is if their voters are dying, not being replaced, their message is the same as it was 20 years ago and they can't be honest with themselves. Jim & 🚮 have hurt them - time they were seen off.

Yep - SF what goes up, must come down. Plus having no real competition could led to a situation were they think they can't be challenged eg Tories!

#Alliance is now our real opposition to #SF because #Unionism is about to start navel gazing.

Unionism needs to be honest with their electorate - about the challenges they face. The shrinking vote base & it isn't 1921, 1974 or 1985 anymore. The delusions that Jim & 🚮 are selling are harming them.

I do think that #Unionism
would vote if you gave them something to vote for. The apathy is because they are selling a message that was out of date 20 years ago never mind today. Fear isn't working anymore.

I think the #DUP are selling it as a win because they have seen of the challenge from #UUP & #TUV. They are clearly relieved that they are still the biggest Unionist party. The small matter of their shrinking vote share and the fact they didn't gain any seats is something they are glossing over.

They can't even begin to address core problems that #Unionism face. It's vote is shrinking, they can't even convince the voters they have to vote to come out and vote for them

I would say the #UUP vote is disappearing to the #Alliance party.

I really doubt that #Unionism vote had disappeared - large parts of Unionism's vote stayed at home. One electoral ward was as low as 33%!

They are still there but their politicians aren't motivating them to come out! #NIpolitics

As usual after another #NI election which saw #Unionism not get their vote out. (Why isn't Jeff appealing to the Unionist voter?) Plus the #DUP taking more votes from a smaller shrinking pool.

Unionism decides that their attempts to fix it is to talk to themselves. Not getting out and talking to the people who stayed at home!

It was stand alone local election which seen an increase in voter turnout. So Northern Ireland is sending a message, It is time that #DUP & #British Government started listening.

That is question that all of #Unionism needs to start asking and answering. The message they are sending isn't appealing to their core voters. Never mind anyone else!

They need to change and quickly or else they will continue to decline!

Also small comment to #DUP, it also help that when asking someone to vote for you & when that response is negative - you don't reply with a childish & snarky comment when the person's back is turned! Doesn't help your already tarnished image!

As wee Jeff (looked comes on the tele box today - talking about being biggest party of #Unionism, which is correct.

But remember that the Unionism (#UUP & #DUP) were once the biggest parties throughout NI history. The #UUP once dominated #Belfast City Council - which now has #Sinn Fein has it's largest party.

#Doug & #Jeff are talking about the #future of Unionism, getting their people out to vote. It would help if they offered them a vision of the #future that didn't look like #NI pre
