"People made up gods for things they were afraid of" and ends with either Christianity or Atheism, depending. aka The Triumph of Whiteness. It's also associated with missionary activity.
I've heard this trotted out many times in #Unitarian congregations- they should know better.
You never hear any explanation on how a "single big sky-daddy who is all-knowing and all-powerful, won't make things better, and you're too stupid to understand" is more sophisticated than #Animism or #Polytheism.

Just a buncha humans wondering how we can better love and support one another. The motherly, caring excitement of the older ladies at my new-ness during the coffee hour was so welcoming, so kind. #ThomasWentworthHigginson (December 22, 1823 – May 9, 1911) was an American #Unitarian #minister, author, #abolitionist, #politician, and #soldier. He was active in the @American Abolitionism movement during the 1840s and 1850s, identifying himself with #disunion and #militant abolitionism. He was a member of the #SecretSix who supported #JohnBrown. During the #CivilWar, he served as colonel of the #1stSouthCarolinaVolunteers, the first federally authorized #blackregiment, from 1862 to 1864.[1] Following the war, he wrote about his experiences with African American soldiers and devoted much of the rest of his life to fighting for the rights of freed people, women, and other disfranchised peoples.
