Raised agnostic by religiously disenchanted parents, I'm a former #jehovahswitness -- converted at 17, and that was all my adolescent rebellion. Twenty years later I had a religious breakdown and took shelter with the #UnitarianUniversalists, a step I recommend to everyone who needs to deconvert. Under their wing, I became a #NeoPagan and learned about #folkmagic, especially #hoodoo (aka #rootwork and #conjure).

<... But #UU feels a better fit for community, especially since it includes both Jewish and Humanist groups (less so in the UK, but in principle) ie it is not exclusively Christian.

I also joined the Quaker Non-Theist group.

Inclusivity and LGBTQ+ affirming us obviously very important to me too.

Happy to see the #solstice toots! My grandparents were/are #UnitarianUniversalists and we celebrated solstice in there backyard, in Detroit, in the winter every year growing up. My sister owns that house now, so that’s where we are heading tonight. The religion and holiday are a funny thing to describe to those that don’t participate, but there’s not much cooking, no gifts (except stories, songs and poems), and a lot of love and gratitude. Happy Solstice! Back to shitposting about old sports!
