A nice addition to #iPadOS would be the use of #FaceID to authenticate or unlock a connected #Mac that is linked to the #iPad via #UniversalControl. It’s not quite FaceID for the Mac, but would be pretty close.

For all you #macOS folks out there, if you use #UniversalControl frequently (like me) you may experience the weird bug where sometimes your mouse gets "trapped" on your secondary screen and you can't migrate control back to your primary #Mac -- turns out there's a quick command you can run to reset the Universal Control service on your Mac.

`pkill -9 UniversalControl`

Now firmly convinced that this Persons Quantum 4848 is a total waste of money. The error occurring now is that their Universal Control software doesn't recognize the device. And yet it's working just fine - outputs are all functioning normally, inputs are all functioning normally. And why does it show up in the Universal Control interface if there's an issue??? Seriously, getting the Apogee interface is now a top priority for me.

A little while ago, I posted a compliant about #UniversalControl on my #MacMini and #iPad, and how it kept dropping my connection regularly without any rhyme or reason. @alrescha suggested that I may be dealing with interference from either Wifi or bluetooth.

This weekend I rearranged some stuff on my desk and gave my computer a direct line of sight to the iPad. I’m happy to report that the connection has been solid/stable since.

I enjoy being in the #Apple ecosystem. I like it when things just work together. The majority of the applications and services in the ecosystem work together falwlessly. With this in mind, can someone explain to me why #UniversalControl fails so regularly?

I’ve updated, rebooted, changed networks, etc. It simply doesn’t work as expected. It just disappears from my display as an option, until for no reason, it simply shows back up again unexpectedly and without any interaction from me.

#macos feature request: make #universalcontrol work when 2 accounts are logged in on the Mac. I get very frustrated when I can’t use it because my wife is logged in and I get frustrated with her telling me how long it takes to do anything when she logs in to the Mac for the first time when logged out.

If I couldn't be any more impressed with Universal Control on the Mac, I just discovered that when focussing on my iPad screen, the media and volume controls on the Mac's keyboard, control the iPad instead.

Seriously, how awesome is that!

Nicht nur die #Wetter-App kämpft unter #iOS 16.4 mit Aussetzern, auch #UniversalControl und #Handoff scheinen für einige Nutzer und Nutzerinnen nicht richtig zu funktionieren. Im #Apple Support-Forum haben sich zahlreiche User gemeldet, die die genannten Funktionen gar nicht mehr oder nur eingeschränkt nutzen können.

Wie sieht es bei euch aus, macht iOS 16.4 bei euch auch Probleme?

Das "Universal Control" Feature von MacOS ist schon echt nice... Ohne große Probleme Verbindet man die Maus und Tastatur vom MacMini mit dem MacBook Air. So wie Synergy unter Windows, nur eben "von Haus aus" im Betriebssystem. Auch bei Apple ist natürlich nicht alles Gold was glänzt. Aber Hut ab, dass die so eine Feature direkt eingebaut haben. I absolutely love #UniversalControl for connecting up my Macs and iPads but wow is it flakey. When it works it is awesome. What is hard is when it kills the connection and/or won’t reconnect.

With the gripes, I’ll share some love.
Apple’s Universal Control is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. This is LITERALLY magic. I forgot this existed until I set my new Air next to my Studio and was thinking over a KVM solution.
