Always fascinating to see things from the 'other side' providing feedback from an industry perspective. It does make you wonder about how these higher education rankings are created. Very little recognition within options of environment or public health disciplines or skills related to climate & biodiversity crises. #UniversityRanking

#UniversityRanking - those participating in the making know it’s not what it claims to be, we know it’s not healthy for the higher Ed ecosystem, and it can even be toxic. But consumers (students, parents, donors, …etc.) continue to use it. Sounds a bit like tobacco. While we haven’t been successful finding a substitute, perhaps someone can come up with a catchy warning statement, like those on cigarette packages

Help - when I was on the other site, I happened across an academic who had compiled their own US college/university ranking spreadsheet that included lots of amazing criteria - well beyond what US News & WR do. It included things like: campus crime stats, campus culture, community connections, environmental stewardship, etc etc. I was recently touting it to friends who are looking at colleges for their kids…

But now I can’t find it! Anyone help?

Got this invitation from Times Higher for a #survey feeding into their #UniversityRanking. It asks me to list the 15 institutions producing the best research. I'm not going to do this. I do not have the knowledge, I think no one has, and I think university rankings harm #academia.
