Day 25 #UnreadBooksOfAdvent
It's not advent any more. Therefore by a process of pure logic, all my books are now read.
Day 24 #UnreadBooksOfAdvent and it's the final door!
I was quite taken with #pathfinder2e and bought and read several books. I then stalled, uninspired by stodgy World/Gods books and the Age of Ashes adventure path.
Running the Beginner Box this year reignited my excitement for the game. So I bought these three. In pocket edition. With tiny writing. In the year I got my first prescription glasses.
Needless to say...never read them
#unreadbooksofadvent #pathfinder2e
I've reached the stage where I don't actually WANT any more RPGs now.
Insufficient play time plus the shame of unread books (which I've obviously exacerbated with #UnreadBooksOfAdvent) means my books don't give me the joy they should. Almost the opposite.
I'm sure it'll pass.
Day 23 #UnreadBooksOfAdvent
Today, for the first time, it's the World's Greatest RPG ™️. Or certainly a perfectly adequate one. Hoard of the Dragon Queen is the only unread 5e book in my collection, but that's largely down to the fact I haven't bought any for years and I was intrigued by the story as it evolved on the Forging Farrir podcast with @megatron_46 and @Ohdearkatt . A fairly recent £13 eBay bargain.
Never read it.
Day 22 #UnreadBooksOfAdvent and we take a left turn into the Old World.
I loved the idea of WFRP3, being as it is an RPG that also uses cards. And tokens. And more cards. And funny dice. And cards. Next to Torg, it's the closest RPG I have to a full set.
I picked up the scenario Edge of Night on eBay this year, so obviously I haven't read it yet. I also have the WFRP3 version of Enemy Within, which, like the original, is supposed to be excellent. Of course, I wouldn't know.
Never read it.
Day 21 #UnreadBooksOfAdvent and it's nearly Xmas!
Predation is a game I picked up at the Owlbear and Wizard's Staff #OBaWS convention swap shop. I brought a LOT of stuff to give away and only took a few items in return.
I played Cypher system once and it was ok. Didn't excite me. But time travelling dinosaur wranglers? Now THAT'S exciting! But obviously not exciting enough, because...
Never read it.

Day 20 #UnreadBooksOfAdvent
You know how yesterday I highlighted E3, the sixth of the first 4e module sequence, H(eroic)1-3, P(aragon) 1-4, and E(pic)1-3?
Well, I finally filled the gaps in my set this year, with the generally over-priced E3 'Prince of Undeath'. At last, the circle is complete!
Never read it.
E1-2? Never read those either.
Day 19 #UnreadBooksOfAdvent (a hashtag that Twitter still doesn't remember. Mastodon does 😜)
4e again. Scenarios. I wanted to get a full set of the first 9 modules: 3 each for Heroic, Paragon, and Epic tiers
I've read the 1st five: H1-3, E1-2
This is E3. Never read it.
Day 18 #UnreadBooksOfAdvent
4e again, but a third party supplement this time. Advanced Players Guide.looked.like it had some cool features and was available as PoD for not very much.
So I bought it.
I filed it.
I never read it.
Day 17 #UnreadBooksOfAdvent and we carry on with more 4e.
Revenge of the Giants wasn't on my scenario shopping list, but the most excellent Sam Vail of the Twitter Grognards had a copy to get rid of, and it seemed rude not to.
Picked it up in person a year ago.
Never read it.
Day 16 #UnreadBooksOfAdvent
The final week of advent will be heavily 4e focused. While I kept my purchases fairly tightly focused, I've ended up with 4e maybe being my 2nd largest RPG collection (they put out a LOT of 4e books)
This one is 4e Essentials (4.1e really), with updates for some classes.
Never read it (tbh I probably never will. It duplicates loads of rules from other books. It's really just a reference book for the new class builds)
Day 15 #UnreadBooksOfAdvent
I owned GURPS back in the day but never got into it. Maybe never even finished reading it (and back then I *did* read all my RPGs).
Hero System offered a generic ruleset that better fitted my sensibilities, so GURPS was one of the first books I ebayed.
But GURPS lore remained a gap in my GeekCred. So a good friend sent me an unwanted copy a couple of years back.
Never read it.
Day 14 #UnreadBooksOfAdvent
An unusual Gumshoe in that it's produced by Evil Hat, when I heard about Bubblegumshoe it sounded like an intriguing addition to the ouvre. Tho I'd never seen any Veronica Mars.
Gorgeous digest book, it was sat on my bedside table for a couple of years.
Mind you, never read it.
Day 13 #UnreadBooksOfAdvent
Bought this at the height of my 4e spree. Highly desirable and, according to those in the know, one of the best 4e publications.
Although it's available as PoD, my quest to not give money to WotC meant I scoured eBay, ignoring the £60+ price tags, patiently biding my time.
Finally spotted my white whale, and snapped it up for just £20 in July 2021.
Never read it.
Finally up to date, here's Day 12 of #UnreadBooksOfAdvent
For a while, Mutants & Masterminds surplanted Champions as my crunchy superhero RPG of choice. A bit simpler, but in the end similar problems.
During this phase, I bought two of their sub-genre supplements. At least, I assume I did. Dunno why: neither Golden Age or Noir are genres I'm especially interested in. Which explains something.
Never read them.
Belated Day 11 of #UnreadBooksOfAdvent
Few years back, as they were getting ready for the new 2d20 version, Modiphius did a fire sale of BRP-based Achtung Cthulhu.
I've always had an idea to run a WW2 Commando-style RPG, and BRP seemed like an ideal system. So I could buy Achtung Cthulhu and have 90% of the work done for me.
The Players Guide was only in PDF. So I bought it and, unusually, actually read it.
Everything else I got hardcopy, including this, the GMs Guide.
Never read it.
Belated Day 10 of #UnreadBooksOfAdvent
Many years ago, I read Conspiracy X and fancied running it. A good friend gave me an unwanted book to help inspire me.
Never read it.
Belated Day 9 of #UnreadBooksOfAdvent
I've always loved Ars Magica. My collection includes books from 2nd to present 5th editions. I played in a long-running PBeM campaign in the mid-90s (The Book of Nights - anyone out there?) and delivered a one-shot to my home group. But never *really* played it.
I recently decided to get a few more of the latest 5th ed books, but all I found on eBay was The Broken Covenant of Calebais
Checked the shelves. Apparently I already own it
Never read it
Belated Day 8 of #UnreadBooksOfAdvent
I loved the original Aberrant, which just oozed flavour and had that nifty power-creep/loss of humanity mechanic that all White Wolf games included. It also hit me right in the sweet-spot for the time: crunchy superhero RPGs.
I picked up its sister RPG Trinity at Owlbear & Wizards Staff swap-shop three years ago.
Never read it.
