C-47A, 92nd Troop Carrier Squadron, 493rd Troop Carrier Wing, 9th Air Force took off from #Upottery Airfield, #Devon on D-Day to the #Cotentin Peninsula, #Normandy. They carried Easy Company (to gain fame as the ‘Band of Brothers’), Lt. Dick Winters & other #paratroopers of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division on their very first combat jump.
