In this photo of Duchess from the original Goat Field on SE Belmont in 2014, you clearly get a good example of how a goat’s eyes can rotate in their sockets, keeping the pupil parallel to the horizon.

This is so that the goat can lower their head to the ground while browsing or foraging but still maintain their wide field of view which allows them to keep an eye out for potential predators.

That said, we did find @xoxo (we were neighbors in inner SE) and @shift2bikes (we were the final stop on a #Pedalpalooza tour of #UrbanGoats).

👋 We’re bringing our #Goats to Mastodon partly as a hedge against further failure at birdsite, and maybe partly because there’s probably a bunch of folks from our early days on social media a decade ago who’ve already made it over.

For those who don’t know: we are a nonprofit herd of #UrbanGoats here in #Portland, and have been for ten years now. (Well, we were a herd in 2013. We weren’t a nonprofit until 2014.)
