📣 (very) draft thesis sent to supervisors! Slowly but surely my #HealthyStreetlife thesis is progressing. The research has taken 7 years (part time) with fieldwork including qualitative participant and street observations right through the thick of #Covid19 during 2020-2021. #PhDlife #urbandesign #urbanhealth #publichealth #sociallife

What is urban? 🏠 Brilliant reminder that a key method used in the UK to define urban is actually aimed at defining rural (urban = everything less rural) and one part of this measure is size of a place being >10,000 people which is described as “easy to understand" and also "essentially arbitrary.” 😂 #PhDlife #UrbanHealth #Urbanism

A great piece by Richard Florida regarding urban US #downtowns losing their lustre. Not because they are hollowing out due to people working from home, but because of the deterioration of public spaces & services. It is unique because of the lack of a social safety net and their fascination with guns. Cdn downtowns are not far off especially when it comes to our public spaces & support services.
