It was satisfying finding out how to do it, getting plants and making them up with the water-retaining crystals etc. A fair bit of work in them but a little cheaper than off the shelf and far more satisfying.

FINALLY found 3 little vintage/antique wooden letter drawers to stand on our big desk. Held out until could find some nice old ones with some wear and character and NOT costing loads. Might lightly clean. Was determined not buy new. Found on Ely (UK) market, the single & double drawers stack nicely, £20 UKP the lot. Also got a pair of excellent hanging baskets FREE on the unwanted items local Freegle donate things app.

Sadly she no longer has garden so grows indoor things. I have small unused area of garden where can just fit these. Lettuce & spinach grow so fairly sure broccoli will - it’s a brassica. Need to plant this weekend as season to plant this variety soon ends.

After a month of hoping spring onion seed I had sown might actually spring up, it wasn’t there yesterday, this morning hooray loads of shoots. Dandelion gave the first clock yesterday overnight, and a beautiful male thrush landed on the bird feeder the first bird I have seen land on it. Thank you Jesus.

Satisfying relaxing calming even if just a chore. Didn’t try to eradicate dandelions too many and they colouful coverage and make nice seed “clocks” - symbol we used at our wedding.

I’m not especially keen on slugs but some snails are really pretty. Mainly I do not want to kill them and most “deterrents” are just cruel ways of killing them. Then I came across grapefruit traps apparently don’t harm you can just empty them far away happy and alive. You also eat tasty grapefruits 🙂
