#UrgencyOfNormal is not about what is best for us. It's a #capitalist panic response to our realization that:
*work-life balance can exist
*we do better, save heaps of money with WFH options
*most meetings can be Zoom or an email
*safe, convenient access to #healthcare exists
#urgencyofnormal #capitalist #healthcare #covidisnotover
A subtle form of #gaslighting during the ongoing #pandemic is the fact that #SocialMedia obscures the fact that people who have embraced the #UrgencyOfNormal fallacy are not *actually* having more fun than those of us who know #CovidIsNotOver.
I have to remind myself that their lives are not “better” than mine, especially because they are most likely getting sick after eating out and vacationing and going to parties #maskless.
But it can be hard to remember when all you see are the photos.

@lisa_iannattone@twitter.com 💯. The #UrgencyOfNormal 💩 was always code for #UrgencyofNormal(izing Mass Infection).
Not a care for what our society/children have and will endure as a consequence.

In case this is not clear to you yet, the West can only afford its #CovidIsEverywhere #covid19 rich, #urgencyofnormal lifestyle, only as long as China continues its #zerocovid one. Telling that Francois Balloux is not exactly thrilled about China leaving zerocovid behind ?

Still learning how this platform works... Looks like i have 10k characters to use, but also nobody really has that sort of attention span lol
My point re: distributions-- we know at least some of the time people's T-cell counts are decimated by even asymptomatic infection. In other cases, the effect occurs but may be subclinical -- i mean, you lose some but then they come back, and some research indicates this is age dependent.
But really, what kind of distribution are we looking at? Is it front-heavy with lots of nulls and mild-responders (widespread asymptomatic infection that largely remains asymptomatic) and everyone else is fine? Is what the #UrgencyOfNormal model insists on, with tiny insignificant better not even think about them yucky gross marginalized population of icky sicky people that should simply no longer be seen, such as cancer patients or people with heart disease.
But what if it's not that? What if the model is Gaussian and there's a temporal component that may shift a risk profile as reinfections occur. There's absolutely nothing to suggest repeat infections are milder or safer, and in fact there's more evidence to suggest the opposite.
Maybe most significant clinically but almost completely ignored by MSM and most Minimizer pundits (Prasad, Walensky, etc.) is the development of short-to-long term disability arising from PACS. As opposed to the extreme outcomes of death and hospitalization (both representing something like <1% of acute symptomatic initial infection), PACS and lingering symptoms across a broad range of organs are known to be affected by the virus. It's an abomination of the healthcare system these cases are being ignored, dismissed, and further failure of public health authorities to not be tracking this information more carefully.

#urgencyofnormal should now apply because a shortage of basic meds, long waiting times in ERs, kids on ventilators, kids dying? These are all NOT normal.

It’s time to stop banning smoking in indoor public spaces. If you’re afraid of inhaling carcinogens you can just stay home. The rest of us need to live our lives. #urgencyofnormal

Per i virologi e amici loro che paventano a vanvera di suicidi e danni psicologici da lockdown, thread precisissimo di un esperto del settore.
