This is Huara, an #artist and member of the #skateboarding group #imillaskate in #Bolivia. I met her one day in #Cochabamba, before I went to #Quillacollo to document the Festival of the Virgin of #Urkupiña. I asked her and her gang if I could take their #portraits. They all said yes. I got some great photos of them in action, but I like this image as it suggests both respect and defiance. This image will not appear in my book “The Hill of the Skull,” but I thought it was too good not to share.

This is an image of the Hill of the Skull in #Quillacollo, #Bolivia. I traveled to this dusty mound in the #Andes last August to do research on #mountains and #spirituality. This is a place where the veil is thin and pilgrims ask for blessings from both the Virgin of #Urkupiña and #Pachamama.
