Why is there no vertical text selection in just every application? #Usabilty

I am a retired Usability and User Experience professional. I was an early pioneer in the field. I am a musician: primarily a bass player, although I play guitar, dabble in ukulele, and occasionally percussion. I am a horror movie freak. Most definitely Liberal. Into clean energy. I understand some of these news sites are funding their operations with ads but until they put a focus on #Usabilty and #SitePerformance, my ad blockers will stay on.
