And, read more or less in parallel with it, no. 32.

A nice easy going wander through some of the vertebrates and invertebrates we share the planet with. They certainly sound better than people for the most part.

An interesting memoir from my local , stirring up memories and emotions while giving insights into what is involved in wildlife filmography. Now I just have to find the film he was making!

A nice balance of idealism and pragmatism in seeking to manage land for nature while also operating as a farm.

Back to the hard stuff now as my holiday is over (and my lunch break is about to be too!), I’ll have to restrain myself from borrowing more when I return this to the

When this holiday is over I’ll get back to my own books that I’m supposed to be powering through before I’m allowing myself to buy more rather than going for easy things picked up at the .

Though this one while readable wasn’t easy in all senses, I found it quite an emotional read.

Seventeenth of my , again from the … I’m never going to get the owned heap down at this rate! Actually before this I tried to read A Scots Quair - it is now looking for a new home as the writing is fell awful.

Anyway, this was interesting. Good analysis of how “meritocracy” is actually quite shitty, less good at proposing remedies (or maybe I was getting tired/bored by then).

I use my local library regularly. I borrow 6 books at a time. Libraries mean you can try authors, genres, new to you. My local library will help you with computers, genealogy, book groups and you can work there, study, join various groups or just sit quietly and read. The children's section has really good story tellers and there is a music library.
I cannot afford to buy books as often as I did when younger so libraries are a lifeline for folk like me.
