#USS #Capita #datatheft ("cyber event"). I have written some questions to USS. I am not sure signing up to #Experian #IdentityPlus is in our own inzerest. They essentially want ALL your data and they are neither very transparent what they do with it, nor is their data safety record "impeccable" either (to say the least).
A lot of fear mongering!

In order to monitor whether somebody is doing something with my data, #USS are giving me free membership of a service run by another company which has been subject to data breaches.

4/5... In essence, as a #USS member you are screwed four times over since
a) you are now at risk of identity theft
b) any fine will at least indirectly affect USS and therefore you*
c) as a USS member you indirectly pay for the "free" Experian service with your contributions and
d) if you continue using the service, you pay through your nose while exposing yourself to even more risk...

*If Capita gets fined this will likely affect the future costs for USS to buy in the services they provided.

Today I received news from #USS that pretty much all my data was exfiltrated. Now the question is whether #GDPR rules were brached and if so, who is going to get fined? USS or #Capita?... The final straw that will break USS's neck?

USS pension goes from £14 BILLION deficit to projected £5 BILLION SURPLUS, in two years!!!!!

All of this was predicted by UCU and we fought against the changes. But our employers forced us to strike, docked our pay, and blamed us for ‘disruption’.
