You probably need to be into David Mitchell’s style of prose *and* 60s/70s folk/rock sub culture to enjoy it. Maybe one of those isn’t enough, but for me it really hits a sweet spot. Having Bert Jansch, John Martyn and Sandy Denny, to name but a few, interacting with the main characters as if it were a factual journal, just makes me smile.
