When a predominately white firm invokes “human-centered design”, it begs the question of which humans we are designing for. These innovations and innovators become hyper-focused with designing a solution to a problem— such as not wanting to physically touch a germ-filled soap dispenser handle — that they forget they’re in a room of white engineers.

Web developers: If you can't stop your stakeholders from making you put a "live help" or "May I help you?" chat(bot) widget on your site, see if you can at least get them to agree that if the user has already dismissed it X times (like say 3), you should stop showing it anymore.

Or, try suggesting X be 1 time, and let them talk you down to 3.

I've managed to become an #accessibility specialist without having been a developer or designer. Yet I work with these roles to improve accessibility.

I'm looking for ways to learn more about #webDevelopment, #UXDesign and/or #interactionDesign. What's the fastest way to obtain marketable skills? Doesn't have to be the easiest.

I learn best by seeing and doing on the job. I'm thinking of working with companies that can train me in exchange for my #a11y skills. Would that even work?
