Following #hashicorp license change announce, #OpenTF is created to fork #Terraform, but what about #Packer, #Vagrant which I use, or even #Vault or #Consul and #Nomad?

vagrant: the future of packaging vagrant in Debian
HashiCorp has dropped the open source @mozilla Public License v2.0 in favor of the source-available Business Source License (BSL) v1.1 https://www.fosslife.org/hashicorp-switches-source-available-license #HashiCorp #licensing #OpenSource #Terraform #Vagrant #SoftwareDevelopment

It came to my mind today that maybe #lima https://github.com/lima-vm/lima can replace some of my #vagrant use-cases. Sure, it does not have the same focus, but since I anyway had been using vagrant with libvirt (no vmware or vbox), it's running qemu anyway. Getting a basic box running seems easy enough, but the lima cli seems a bit counter intuitive to me. Difference seems to be that vagrant has more rules on how the box is built while lima seems to use cloud-init for user setup. Less lock-in, I guess.
#HEADSUP HashiCorp adopts the Business Source License which might have impacts on future releases of tools you use in businesses like #vagrant, #vault etc.

If you use the #vagrant plugin vagrant-aws in a dev or test flow it's broken after vagrant 2.3.5 due to the embedded ruby being updated to 3.0. Mitchell Hashimoto archived the project so it won't be getting any new updates. Pinning vagrant to 2.3.4 should keep you running for awhile.
Just finished packaging #vagrant for #guix. Needs some polishing, but works as a charm: downloading a box, starting a host and ssh-ing into it. Great! :+100:
Next step will be packaging the "vagrant-libvirt" plugin, which failed to build on my base/foreign distribution β and which is the reason I started this project.

@federicomena I suppose you mean gnome-boxes as a vagrant provider/backend?
Assuming I got your question right, does it really has to be gnome-boxes?
I've used #Vagrant with #libvirt as a provider before:
https://vagrant-libvirt.github.io/vagrant-libvirt/
I think it may be the closest you'd get, but beware it's been a while since I last used it (hopefully it only improved since then)
@lycanmatriarch i'm wanting to do #archlinux stuff in a #virtualmachine so i can break it if it want to. i used to daily drive arch but i need something plug and play. i really want to see about tinkering with #ansible and #vagrant to test out automating my #linux #selfhosting server, but want a stable base, you know? #debian / #ubuntu's always ol' reliable. sorry #popos :blobhaj_sad_reach:

It's good to know that #fail2ban actually works.
But does it have to be on #localhost? π«€
And only because I forgot to comment #HSTS in the provision against the #vagrant VM.

This may not be useful to anyone, but I've published my #libvirt (#QEMU/#KVM) port of #Scotch/Box from the defunct scotch.io over on the #HashiCorp #Vagrant Cloud repository.

With a #Vagrant + #KVM setup working, this feels like an extra win, since its one less piece of #Oracle software I need to use (#VirtualBox). #VM
