• I got a fair bit of done last week while recovering from my hospitalization. Mostly signing older work, but a few long sessions on this too.

• I’m back into my research phase for this piece so I haven’t done a lot of this week. I’m on the very layered gut area now. I’ve watched some videos and have been colouring the ANS pages in The Anatomy Colouring Book.

~ I finished the chainstitch in the upper half and got a decent start on the lower half of this huge embroidery. I’m especially pleased with the serpentine shape over the liver area. I also wrote 5 pages of poetry.

Splashing cold water on your face can boost your health. It can stimulate the vagus nerve, which regulates many bodily functions, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and digestion. It can also reduce stress, inflammation, and pain. Splashing cold water on your face can activate your body’s natural healing system.

Better sleep, immune & gut-functioning, etc. could be a little electrical device away. While stimulation’s promise is not fulfilled, … real progress is being made and with a number of trials underway, we should, over the next couple of years, get a much better idea of these devices’ capabilities and how to best make them work in diseases like , , and .

Exciting news. Congrats @vgmacefield@twitter.com on receiving @NHMRC@twitter.com Ideas Grant of $1.2m to conduct microelectrode recordings of the in awake humans. This work will provide critical information on how the organ control provided by the vagus nerve is affected in diseased states

Fun Fact: I'm never when I sing . I always sing back-up. Even better to hum along.

I theorize the back-up part helps tone the , thus contributing to the song's popularity because it helps alleviate depression and anxiety.
