I’m Aurie, 26 year old Chinese-Canadian belonging to the Japanese #shingon school of #vajrayana #buddhism. I came across this tradition on #koyasan in 2018 thanks to a tour guide who explained the teachings to me. She had pointed to my heart and said “here, the Buddha is inside you” and I had felt like the Shingon teachings had put words to everything I believed in but could not articulate. I aspire to be a student and maybe monastic.

BTW - although, I posted a link to a #buddhist empowerment minutes ago, I don't recommend Buddhism for Westerners. To Explain, I've been poorly practicing 'AT being Buddhist student' for more than 20 years. My teachers are Tibetan- mostly. I've become pretty convinced that We westerners -about 90% are shoddy students of #Vajrayana Buddhism in particular. For me, I am dedicated to it for the rest of my friends who ask "so what's with Buddhism dude?" I sum it up like this - " your'ee walking home on a dark night and decide to take a shortcut through a dark alley . Suddenly, your back is thrown against a hard wall and a cold, steel blade is pressed against your throat -whatcha goin' do?"
