A Dutch art detective has recovered a precious Vincent van Gogh painting.
The precious 1884 painting was stolen from the Singer Museum in Laren near Amsterdam in March 2020, when the museum was closed during a Covid-19 lockdown.

This is an interesting note, but I’d really like to dig into this more. We could make jokes about bees preferring impressionist work but I wonder if it’s the specific colors being used, or that bees recognize that flowers in a vase are dying and therefore less fit food sources. But also, hilarious to think that the bees in your garden actively remember your face

Je crois que je ne peux pas faire autrement. J’aime trop ce film. J’aime me dire « ça devait être un peu comme ça, les dernières semaines de Van Gogh » avec cette simplicité, cette manière d’être dans le monde, dans la beauté du monde.
FX me disait qu’il avait lu que tel peintre critiquait le geste du peintre dans le film, donc la main de Maurice qui ne peindrait pas comme Vincent. Ma réponse : on s’en fout ! c’est très bien comme ça.

Over the weekend i accidentally broke one of my favorite coffee mugs, and i’m so bummed about it. it was a kickstarter perk for backing the film “Loving Vincent,” about Van Gogh, which was entirely hand-painted, frame by frame, in his style, often incorporating the people and scenes in his paintings. it was nominated for an Academy Award, but i believe it lost. A nice beach scene...well, as viewed from the beach scene! Analysis of this painting has found sand caught in the paint, so we know Vinnie was standing on the beach to paint this. A nice summer canvas.
