Van update:
After removing all the racking the first big job was to cut a hole in the roof! Scary moment, the point of no return! I could no longer sell the van as a van, after this I would have to complete the project, no going back.
Turned out quite well, only slightly skew and most importantly, watertight! Well, apart from a storm in Manchester where it rained as it only can in Manchester, and leaked badly. Resealed now so fingers crossed it holds.

So, in January 2020 I decided to buy a van, a tiny white transit complete with flashing lights and a racking system from its old owner, Virgin media. This is to become my retirement villa, my beach hut, ski shack, my cabin in the woods, oh and also my daily transport. I set about removing the racking and patching the holes, removing the (very little) rust that had accumulated, and began insulating it. Two months later we were thrown into lockdown!
