Amanda Vanstone reveals she's from another planet, saying in response to 9/11:

Exactly none of the 9/11 terrorists were asylum seekers. They all arrived on visas.

But Vanstone and the Liberal-National government substitution stereotypes and racism for rational policy. Terrorists are Islamic; Islamists are brown Middle Eastern types; brown people are asylum seekers; asylum seekers are terrorists. Therefore, the right response is to imprison all asylum seekers, leading to the LNP response.
