I, just, #hate, #proprietary, #software!
I have been struggling with #Ardop and #pat for a month now. Tried numerous tricks to get it working and at best I got only handshake done and bunch of failed packets even when signal quality is 59. Now with all my hate I tried #vara and this thing simply nailed it! It has been 10 years since I started email over #hf fun and how come we ended up in a worst place? I would gladly pay for vara but no native gnu/linux support.š”

No: ham radio should be based on open, free standards. There are plenty of free, open, well documented digital modes (#FT8, #JS9, #WSPR, #M17, #PSK, #Olivia, #RTTY) in addition to the oldest-ever digital mode (#CW). Please support ways of operation everyone can inspect, modify, or build a radio around.

I don't want to know what my colleagues were saying seeing me in the parking, inside my car, wearing the uniform, with a 2.5 m antenna on top. For 10 minutes. Because I checked the incoming mail also. And I don't want to see the pictures I am sure they took.

But from mobile (car rooftop antenna, 5W) I am limited to 20 and 17m. With #PSK31, I can really work all over Europe and Middle East. What bothers me is the commercial restriction of VARA... 69ā¬ for a licence is a lot.
