In #coffee news, I have been trying out the #flare pro 2 manual #espresso machine along with a #varia grinder. It's a little intimidating at first, but it's a journey.

Ich verwende den #Varia #Radar von #Garmin. Dieser zeigt mir bei meinen Velotouren auf dem Navi an, wenn sich etwas von hinten dem #Fahrrad nähert. Auch wenn der Radar etwas doof ist*, so möchte ich nicht mehr darauf verzichten. Er informiert mich zuverlässig, wenn etwas hinter mir passiert.

Die App MyBikeRadarTraffic wertet zusätzliche Informationen aus und stellt diese auf dem Display vom Garmin-Navi und in der Auswertung dar.

*) Der Radar erkennt nur, das sich etwas nähert, aber nicht was.

eeefff are proposing the experimental reading of their recent manual “Economic orangery 2021”. The manual exists as a printed matter and an interactive website that you can go through exercising on gymnastic balls. “Economic orangery 2021” was originally done as an economic science-fiction of the present-day, a network and a live action role play game that serves as a place to gather and preserve the speculative knowledge about nowadays algorithmic-driven economies – and speculate on future histories of resource distribution.

REPAIR
A very practical and hands-on repair session, going back to the literal meaning of the word repair. During this repair session we will be inspecting circuit boards and components while learning some basic techniques for repairing electronics. The Rotterdam Electronics Depot, a sparingly used feature of Varia, will take centre stage as we discuss its uses, limitations and potential. In this Repair we will investigate the concept of computational de-growth through the lens of its physical and material aspects while we discuss the feasibility of a truly recyclable and circular economy of computers.

It is with some pleasure that we're able to announce that the quest for extra tendencies will continue all throughout 2023. Every month extratonal infrastructure will invite advanced artists to approach the concept of extratonality from unexpected angles between the walls of Varia. Our first event of the year takes place on the 4th of February, where visitors will come face to face with performances by Eric Kinny, Tisa Neža Herlec and Friso van Wijck. This time the program will focus on the interaction between film, music and performance. A trip around the world, for which you only have to travel to the Gouwstraat!
