This is taken at night, with only the full moon to light the world. It's a magical experience, it's almost as bright as a cloudy day. And the shadows the moon casts seem different.

Living in the north has its advantages. When the lake freezes in winter, our backyard expands to this marvelous landscape.

This is what you see if you walk down the road towards our house.

This photo didn't really capture the magic that is a moonlit, snowy landscape. I still like it. It almost looks like a diorama. Note: we do not have eye-searing lights in the foyer. It's simply the phone camera amping up its light intake. It creates a really nice juxtaposition though, so it's part of the charm of this photo.

Så kunde en ny skolmatsedel väcka så mycket hat i Lycksele

Ibland så undrar man var den vuxne i rummet är. Måltidsverksamheten i Lycksele kommun gjorde allt rätt; hälsosam mat, lagad från grunden, med lokala råvaror. Today, we finally felt fine with going out on the lake; the ice has settled well enough.

We're in a period when it (the lake under the ice I guess?) makes these haunting noises.

I put my phone down on the ice and caught a few of these otherworldly sounds.

Today we went out to a lake that has frozen over the past week. It was covered with the most amazing crystal structures, and the dance between the dark misty haze and the bright, low sun was mesmerizing.

Still no snow, but every day the landscape is covered in a thicker crystal sheath.
