Is breezy (bzr/brz) still being supported and/or developed? Does anybody use it? It (or bazaar, at the time) was what I favored years ago when I was looking into such things. I see periodic updates but not much other than version number changes or dependency changes it seems. Not much mailing list action either.

I've ended up using git in a couple of places, but not really by choice.

@elly Unfortunately the only #DVCS that did metadata properly (#Fossil) decided it wanted to go all-in on cathedral and no one else even tried (some tried to patch it on top of #git, like #GitBug but that never got popular) so... we're stuck with that.

Everything else fails by requiring unnecessary centralization.

Considering politicians are still struggling with #socialmedia expecting meaningful results around #AI seems optimistic. I am assuming this is why so many of the #VCs calling for restrictions think they can play them and encourage increased barriers to entry now they have established a nascent market

@koakuma You know, this is yet another reason I think #fossil (which uses #SQLite) did it better than #git.

#Filesystems lack the transactionality of #databases necessary to maintain consistency, and so doing anything important on a filesystem is simply foolish.

So why are we maintaining operating systems while relying on that?

As I wrote in my newsletter, their financial success all too often convinces them that they’re uniquely brilliant, able to instantly master any subject, without any need to consult people who’ve actually worked hard to understand the issues. And in many cases they became wealthy by defying conventional wisdom, which predisposes them to believe that such defiance is justified across the board.

Add to this the fact that great wealth makes it all too easy to surround yourself with people who tell you what you want to hear, validating your belief in your own brilliance — a sort of intellectual version of the emperor’s new clothes.

And to the extent that contrarian tech bros talk to anyone else, it’s to one another. The tech entrepreneur and writer Anil Dash tells us that “it’s impossible to overstate the degree to which many big tech C.E.O.s and venture capitalists are being radicalized by living within their own cultural and social bubble.” He calls this phenomenon of venture capitalism “VC QAnon,” a concept that I find helps explain many of the strange positions taken by tech billionaires lately."

I took newly aquired #atari #vcs #2600 and refreshed it a little (https://nokturnal.pl/2023/07/atari-vcs-cx2600-light-sixer-refresh-and-video-composite-mod) and added composite video mod. Composite video output is not great, not terrible (I've removed RF modulator with some extra parts), so if anyone has some tips about getting the best possible video out of VCS possible then share it! I've found some solutions on the web, i.e. boards bypassing video circuitry plugged on TIA, so probably this is definetly way to go.
