@pineforest IOW, per the #VeganSociety’s definition, a vegan cannot eat meat found in a dumpster. This sends the msg that nullifies or compromises the idea that the purpose is to minimize exploitation of animals.

@pineforest The #VeganSociety defines #veganism in a way that makes dietary vegans a subset of vegans. This effectively promotes a fixation on diet that’s out of alignment with the purpose of avoiding animal exploitation. So it’s not too surprising that non-vegans get the wrong msg.

@pineforest Vegans are seen as an authority on veganism by non-vegans. If vegans can’t get it right, there’s little hope for non-vegans getting correct info. Indeed the poll should have been split based on whether the voter identifies as vegan to capture this more concretely. IIUC, the #VeganSociety should be a good source on this but even their definition is inconsistent with the purpose.

Again, I am surprised with the results of another #vegan #poll. The whole point of #veganism is to not partake in animal exploitation. Yet double the voters believe a vegan can serve meat & thus have a hand in animal exploitation. This seems irrational to me. If you serve meat, you are promoting it, no?

IMO #VeganSociety needs to do some introspection and refine their definition.
