I've never had much luck trying to propagate #venusflytraps from seed, so for the past few years I just let them do their own thing.

I just transplanted my entire bog garden to a bigger, new container a few weeks ago. I was very happily surprised to find this poking through the top dressing yesterday.

Any #carnivorousplant people here? My #venusflytrap is in dormancy (I think) and it’s growing this big ol’ long thing. I thought #venusflytraps were supposed to basically look dead during dormancy. Can anyone with knowledge about #carnivorousplants weigh in?

Venus fly traps in the Glasgow Botanic Gardens. These plants can do a lot of very unplant-like things, like move, count, remember things and eat animals!

Fascinating. Pitcher plants (and Venus fly traps) fluoresce blue light in the UV range to help trap insects.

I'm obviously concerned about the impact of Hurricane #Florence on human lives but I'm also worried about the effects of oceanic storm surge and polluted flood waters on the remaining natural populations of #VenusFlytraps. Their range is limited to about a dozen mostly coastal counties in the Carolinas and the plants are very sensitive to salts and other impurities in their water.
