Kind of crazy that #Vercel has a 10 second timeout on functions in their free tier. Makes it a non-starter for testing #blockchain based #apps.

One front-end #RPC call, one back-end RPC call, two #db calls and I get a timeout 🙃

I don't sign into #Vercel often but they have an "Add Email Presets" button on the DNS page for custom iCloud custom domains. Saved me a ton of time & headaches of troubleshooting DNS records!

@thelinuxfraud Currently, my resume website is a #Hugo generated static site hosted on #GitHubPages. I use #GitHubActions to run the build and deploy to pages. #Jekyll is a first-class citizen with #GitHubPages, so it just kind of works out of the box last I tried it. But there is also #Vercel for first-class #eleventy support I believe. I specifically optimize for doing things extremely cheap for that kind of stuff.

Having a small project in mind to build is a great way to learn a new coding concept. Personally, wanting to learn serverless deployment for Python, perhaps on #Vercel? Will put out a small tutorial also if it proves useful for people.

PaaS pricing for bandwidth is absolutely unreal. Completely made up fantasy numbers. Why is any large company using this?

To the left: usage-based pricing of #Vercel, meaning that I'd pay 40 USD for every 100 GB of bandwidth used.

To the right: A mobile phone contract in Austria selling 100 GB for 24 EUR/mo.

Not shown: Hetzner selling additional usage based bandwidth at 1 EUR/TB. Or fly.io at 2 USD/100 GB.

I just want to run a #SlimPHP site in a #serverless instance. Is that possible? #Vercel is having problems (their non-official runtime has an out of date #sqlite build)... fly.io seems promising. What else is out there?

@liztai @ellane Yes. I must admit - there's a disconnect between writing private notes and publishing them! I had to create a seperate web only folder in my Obsidian vault. That helps the switch of mindsets. It does raise interesting thoughts though: what is and isn't for public viewing and how much can any line be blurred through digital gardening? Yeah...it's my first time using Github and deploying pages through #vercel! Can't say I'm an expert.

Just deployed a repository to #github via #vercel with the intent to publish #Obsidian notes to my #digitalgarden. Looks like I'm about to "tech-up" and learn some new skills. Apart from downloading open source projects, Github is foreign to me. One thing: I should point a domain to my pages, because the default Vercel URL is not attractive! Any tips welcome!

Today marks 1 year since I joined #vercel!

I've learned a ton about the serverless and hosting spaces. I'm not accustomed to so many hard problems with no clear solution, but working together with thoughtful and skilled people has made it a joy to dig deep and figure it out.

Exploring this high autonomy, high skill culture has been its own adventure. It's quite unique in my experience.
