Can anyone really define #ai?

Because to me, #OCR, STT, #search engines, etc. are not AI. They're #deterministic and functionally #verifiable. I give you X I expect Y.

To me, for AI, the Y would have to be extremely broad, and even then, would likely be unverifiable as outputs that don't meet the terms of Y could not automatically be deemed invalid; there would have to be an analysis of the process upon which Y is reached.

Besides, we can't even do that X->Y verification with human beings.

If you want to state a #truth, and you want me to #repost it, then please include a #citation link. Statement of #fact without a #source is just an unqualified #opinion. A citation gives us a path toward accepting your truth as #verifiable.

It's not sustainable long-term in a society that prizes science and technology to suppress facts and verifiability. Having the trains run on time for a decade or two seems great, but in a propagandist #totalitarian state, they can forget that #technology is an outgrowth of #science, where #verifiable facts are what we're looking for.

It's no accident that science grew up alongside #liberal thought.
